Just as one of the cornerstones of our clinical work in our residential programme is the group dynamic, we also find that trauma healing groups are an invaluable part of our outpatient clinic in Harley Street, London. We offer these groups in the evenings, which incorporate mindfulness, Somatic Experiencing, and emotional and physical boundary work via communication skill building, and internal “felt-sense” distinction.
Clients learn and explore trauma reduction techniques in this group setting and experience the beneficial effect of group dynamics, talking and listening boundaries, and relational intimacy in a safe environment. Groups are an effective way to supplement individual work in personal recovery but clients can also choose to attend them without participating in one-to-one therapy.
As we begin to know ourselves better, and comprehend how we relate to others and what is impinging on our relationships, we can better understand both our triggers and our reactivity, which are the legacy of our unresolved or untreated trauma. This is valuable both as a therapeutic experience and as a complement to our one-to-one therapy.
Groups are run in the Harley Street clinic and group members are expected to make a weekly commitment to the group.
Concessions are available.
This group is designed to develop and expand self-awareness with the use of conscious movement delivered in a group setting.
Our multidisciplinary team, with different movement training and background are leading the group members in an inward journey while outwardly relating with each other. Conscious movement plays an important part in recovering from trauma as it expands self-awareness and coming out from dissociation supporting the “bottom-up” body to brain process.
In our years of development, we are learning about ourselves, others, and our environment by moving among them, by using our senses and by expressing and meeting our needs. Our body is the vehicle through which we are learning way before we develop cognitive skills.
This group is designed to accompany people back to their innate primary receptive and expressive skills.
The group will take place in our Outpatient Clinic every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 4:30-5:30 PM, costs are £30 per group.
