EMDR is a brilliant therapy. I love its versatility. The basic protocol can be adapted (carefully, by an accredited EMDR therapist) and can be used for many different issues which we psychotherapists encounter in our clients, from anxiety and depression to phobias and addictions, as well as trauma (as that's how it started). It can aslo be incorporated into other psychotherapeutic modalities. What is need is more research so that its evidence-base is widened even more than it already is. However, whilst I know that it works, like any other method, not every client takes to it, which is fair enough.
