Still on a research quest for an effective and affordable treatment center with innovative healing for depression, unresolved trauma locked in mind/body/spirit, and grief, anxiety. The issue is this: Need a referral to a California residential in which one can become part of the community through work/training or volunteer opportunities (once the clinical team and client all feel client is ready). Otherwise the client returns home to old patterns, thoughts and the "treatment/placement" was just a "stopover" to get some nurturing and encouragement. Once the person is home again, without "COMMUNITY", they are going to most likely "go down again", I know this because I have seen it personally from my 35 year old daughter over and over again. I am in fear that if she does not become productive, feel a sense of community, develop confidence through purpose and helping others, that she is not going to be on the planet for much longer. Please advise me on where we can both relocate and be of service while receiving some services also ? California preferred.

Peace and Love

Thanks so much for your very interesting comment re processing/resolving. Certainly at Khiron House it is seen as a piece in the large puzzle. I know the therapists find it an invaluable tool, in the right hands. They have expressed to me how extremely useful EMDR is in terms of the fact that clients do not have to relive the details of the trauma to find relief from it, but certainly they pull in huge amount of other skills to help integrate the EMDR in the system, and of course EMDR is not always appropriate.

Processing is not the same as "resolving"
The trauma is still locked in the body and remembered by the body memory which is like a carbon copy of everything that has ever happened to us, so EMDR only plays a small part in the resolution of a problem, perhaps you could say is only a piece in a very large puzzle! If we " digest" the trauma does it mean that our body mind carries on as if the event never happened?
